Map of Ialyssos in Rhodes Island Greece

Ialyssos
/ Trianta
Ialyssos is in the
North West of Rhodes and only
6km from the airport. The resort has
developed along a long, shingle beach and is backed by hills.
Ialyssos is still a developing resort
with many newer, larger hotels appearing on the outskirts, and
caters for all types of holidaymakers.
A range of watersports is available on the beach and there is a
frequent bus service to Rhodes Town. There is a large choice of
restaurants in resort from fast food places to steak houses, and
also a wide choice of bars and discos.
Distance from Rhodes City: 7Km
The village of Trianta, which can be found on the edge of the
homonym gulf, has been built on the ancient Doric town of
Ialyssos. Like the rest of the area, the village is very social
(kosmikos) and although it attracts of visitors every year, it
has managed to keep its character of a characteristic Rhodian
village.
It is one of the most "extensively" built villages. The village
of Trianta, which is also called Ialyssos, has direct access to
the beach and many large and traditional hotels can be found in
the area. The beach in the area is ideal for water sports of any
kind.
There is also an organized windsurfers club, where windsurfers
can enjoy their favorite sport, especially between 15:00 and
18:00 hours, because at these times winds are usually stronger.
Ixia Travel Guide
Overview:
Just three miles (5km) from Rhodes Town is the
developed resort of Ixia with a wide range of
accommodation to suit most tastes. The west
coast receives a constant summer breeze, which
tempers the heat, and provides excellent
conditions for windsurfing. The shingle beach
follows the curve of the main road with most of
the accommodation along the road; bathers should
take care, as the waves can be a little rough.
Most hotels have pools and deckchairs for those
who prefer not to brave the sea. Ixia is ideal
for family holidays or an older clientele; there
are only a few pubs and bars that close at
midnight, but most hotels provide family
entertainment programs, and its proximity to
Rhodes Town means that all the amenities of a
large town are only a short taxi ride away.
Shopping:
Ixia itself does have a central shopping plaza,
but most visitors opt for a shopping spree in
nearby Rhodes, particularly in the quaint Old
Town. This is a treasure trove of boutiques and
stores. Look out particularly for antique and
reproduction silver and and gold jewellery, and
leather goods. |
