from a modern resort and more. The nearby golden sands and shallow
waters of the exquisite Fig Tree Bay are ideal for families and
water sports. Even these beach
resorts offer more than may first the eye. If you can tear yourself away from
their crystal clear waters.
And golden sand beaches, and you came down from aero modelling, rest from
water-skiing and Snorkelling in the sea caves of Cape Greco, there's some
worthwhile exploring to do. Ayia Napa is a major tourist resort with discos and
trendy shops which has a 16th century medieval monastery, cut into the rock and
partially subterranean, set in the middle of the village square. The town's
Marine Life Museum is the first of its Kind in Cyprus.
Windmills, small churches and cyclists are familiar sights in the areas of
Protaras and Paralimni. You can find out - of- the - way taverns serving local
specialties. The pretty fishing shelter of Potamos is a good place to rest. In
Liopetri village the traditional craft of basket making continues to this day
and a 16th century church stands in dedication to Virgin Mary. The village of
Frenaros alone has three small Byzantine churches. |
