Map of Larnaca Cyprus

Larnaca
The most popular part of Larnaca is the famous mile long
promenade lined with palm trees and festooned with bars, shops and restaurants.
This, along with many other parts of the town, has been completely
pedestrianised leading to many open-air cafes and tavernas.
Larnaca is a relaxed resort. For tourists probably the most characteristic image
of the town is its wide seafront promenade by mature palm trees lined with cafes
and tavernas. On one end, the Marina welcomes international yachts and on the
other end, towns` 17th century forts house the Larnaca Medieval Museum. Nearby
the Pierides Foundation and the Larnaca district Archaeological Museums for
Interesting antiquities, and the Larnaca Municipality Cultural Centre for more
modern shows can be found.
The main international airport connecting Cyprus to the outside world is on the
edge of town directly opposite Larnaca salt lake. Beside this idyllic lake,
which welcome flamingos and other migratory birds each winter and dries out
summer heat, is the tranquil Hala Sultan Tekke built to honor the aunt of the
Prophet Mohammed. Also the `18th century aqueduct called Kamares is on the
outskirts of town.
Just 11 km west of Larnaca is the 11th century Angeloktisti Church in Kiti
village known for its rare 6th Byzantine mosaic. Stavrovouni, one of the oldest
and most dramatically sited monasteries in Cyprus is not far away. The same as
Lefkara village that is famous for its lace and silver. A little further south,
Choirokoitia village is the site of one of the word's most important Neolithic
settlements.
Luxury hotel in Larnaca - Golden Bay Hotel. It has a very cultured and elegant
atmosphere with a good range of facilities available to suit all age groups.
